my last update would be....

exactly.

So tomorrow I'm going to have my first driving lesson with my uncle in his automatic jaguar. Pretty nifty. I hope I don't kill it.

I know when I'm moving into my dorm and what room I'm in, just not who my roomates are. I will know within the next few days.

I brought my brother peach pie today, which I had made the night before, and then we went to eat American-Chinese/Japanese food. It was yummy...lemon chicken, eggplant with garlic..and other people got sushi, which I tried. I still don't really get what all the rave is about. Oh well. Maybe I shall aquire the taste someday.

New CDs: Tigerlilly-Natalie Merchant and Achtung Baby- U2

fun fun. I love listening to great music.

I'm alright, although a bit anxious to get out and tackle the world; I've been far too much of a theoretician, and feel the need to get out and do stuff. All in due time though, as there's still much training to be had. For the summer, I've been mostly in Singapore, working off-and-on on a field analysis of some work I did in Germany. If I've already told you about that at some point, shame on me for being overly narcissistic about it (it was really refreshing, and exciting, though). Otherwise I've been hanging back, taking it easy, tossing in some weights and Muay Thai training here and there to stay healthy. Throughout the summer though, I've become exponentially proud of my brother as it looks as though he'll exceed every bar I've ever set so far with ease and celerity.

So how are you and your brother doing? I was feeling pretty nostalgic, with my head in the past up until a few months ago.

pretty good. i'm just waiting around for school to start in a month. ian's been working. he had a job at his local brewery as a busser, but now he's a bartender so he's making a lot more bucks, which he needed. i learned how to knit and i'm in the midddle of my first scarf. i'm about halfway done. i also have a kind of a job. i'm a substitute teaching assistant, so if i get a call in the morning i get paid something like $11/hr. ian's living with a roomate in a little apartment. i'm staying with a friend of the family (my 2nd mom). i'm going to learn to drive, but i dunno about getting my liscence before i leave. friends here are sparce. but i'm hoping to get together with some friends thi weeekend. don't know if it will happen though. they all have their own friends and boyfriends to be with, what do they need me for?

when i was still capable of positive sentimental thought. now i'm just a postmodern blob of 'i don't care'. not quite, but close.

still in scotland, though currently in dubai. desert prison. edinburgh rocks my socks and i can't wait to go back. planning a US adventure next summer; wanting to head out the california way, maybe i'll see you and ian then.

visiting/spiriling into insanity. my mother still lives here and my dad recently moved a mere hour away so, yeah. my mom's moving to jordan though, and i can drive properly so i absolutely commit to no more summers like this one. it actually wasn't that bad, just a little boring at times.

I'm looking forward to getting back to edinburgh, getting a job, going to school and keeping busy.

i'll definitely be coming to california in the summer, san fransisco mainly but i'll make it to where ever you'll be. a car, i'm saving for a car. cross your fingers for me.

i definately will. yeah, my summer has been pretty boring too. just july, august, and september. june was fantastic (italy). i am also looking forward to school, a routine, and keeping busy. i hate waiting around. it's only fun when you have friends around to distract you, but when they are absent...well, you know. i'm learning to drive...automatic is ok; stick shift is shift minus f. it scares me too much.
